Started by the current generations grandfather, Westfield Investments has grown and changed from a single retail store in Cork (Ireland) to a diverse portfolio of properties in Ireland, England and Scotland.
Where it all began...
Three generations have worked together to continue the growth and vision that began in 1900 when William Roche started a furniture business in Cork. It quickly developed into one of Ireland's first department stores subsequently becoming one of the country's largest, privately run companies.
From the beginning the focus has always been innovative; buying property for a shopping centre in Dublin long before the idea was popular; opening Ireland's first supermarket in a department store; installing Ireland's first escalators, air conditioned building, and many more "firsts".
Over the last century, the Roche family successfully developed a network of department stores in Ireland and became a leading retail store group. As the company grew so did its property holdings in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Part of this success story included the incorporation of Westfield Investments in 1963 to control, manage and grow the property holdings of the Group. In 2006 the retail division was sold to Debenhams allowing the company to focus solely on its property portfolio.
As the 21st century progresses Westfield Investments continues to expand, adding a diverse mix of property types and products to its list of investments while maintaining its Irish investment base.
